Subject:Painting/Print of Japanese Pearl Diver?
Posted By: Lance W Frazer Tue, Feb 06, 2018 IP: 2601:204:4001:3df5:4

These belong to a friend of mine who is trying to decide if he should have them reframed and matted or not. The two (I am posting one and will post the other tomorrow when the light is better) appear to be prints on fabric, both by the same artist. Each is about three feet long and perhaps 14 inches wide. The framing, which is primarily nailed frames and lightweight wood backing, I would judge to be from the 1950s or so, but beyond that, I have no clues. If anyone can identify the artist, we would be most grateful.

The reading of the seal like inscription,
可休 Kakyu or Yasumubeshi "Willing to Rest" - Little bit archaic style title
of the painting.

With regards,
I.Nagy
