Subject:Raised mark on base of octagonal jar
Posted By: Selby Cook Mon, Mar 05, 2018 IP: 2602:306:c4f2:cbe0:f

Would anyone know if the raised mark shown on picture two is intended to be the Chinese numeral one? I believe the jar is Yuan Dynasty; however, the purple splashed glaze and ribbed motif also suggests the possibility of Ming, Wanli. There are also suggestions of fahua.

Possibly a cinerary urn. You need someone able to translate the characters on the sides of the jar.

Thanks for info. Believe the inscriptions are Buddhist or Taoist. If anyone can interpret some of the language, I'd be most grateful.
