Subject:SILK TAPESTRY - 39" x 43" - IN FRAME - ORIGIN? - AGE?
Posted By: James Nicholas Sat, Mar 17, 2018 IP: 184.98.151.158

This is a very intricate, hand-stitched, embroidered tapestry, which has been placed into frame. I've had this for 55 years. Bought in an auction in Palm Beach, Florida, in the 1960s.
Any information would be very appreciated.
Thank you, for your time and knowledge.
Do you think this might have been an article of clothing - possibly a robe?
Best regards,
Jimmy

Thank you, Robert, and David,
Because it having been embroidered with a single, dark perimeter, I believe that it is a total piece, rather than fragments. I could be wrong on that.
It's such an intriguing embroidery.

I, absolutely, love the "swasticas" in the corners, representing peace and harmony.
I thought that, maybe, it was created in the mid 1800s.

Thank you for your responses!
Regards,
Jimmy N
