Subject:Difficult Signature & Seal
Posted By: Thomas K Sat, Apr 28, 2018 IP: 222.155.161.33

Firstly, sorry for posting a signature without a photo of the whole painting - it's sealed in a bag with other things and would be a pain to get out.
This is a signature from a Japanese silk painting depicting a Houou (mythical bird) - generally I try and decipher these myself, but this one has me stumped. The Kanji (if that's what they are) just seem... weird.
Further, I can't even begin to understand the seal as it seems to be in stylized seal script.
If anyone could make a guess as to what the inscription reads, I'd really appreciate it. I'm really interested to know more about the painting's origin, but try as I might I just can't understand what's written right there in front of me.
Thanks,
Thomas.

The second character of signature is 文.

The seal is 㥁

Still thinking about the first character
