Subject:Porcelain bowl question
Posted By: Rebecca Wan Tue, May 08, 2018 IP: 2601:283:4201:6f54:a

Hello, I've received an Asian bowl from an inheritance and I have no history on the item. I would love to know it's history, my family was in the Midwest for many years and as far as I know never went to Asia.

I believe this is Japanese, Google translate says the mark on the bottom says "Made in Nippon".

Rebecca,

The mark displayed here is certainly not "Made in Nippon". It is the seal mark of Kozan 庫山 Gama 窯 from right to left. Yours is upside down, so see my included picture.

Kozan Gama is founded in 1971 and is a house brand of the Maebata China Corporation, Tajimi City (Gifu), Which itself was founded in 1963 and is still in operation today. Mainly producer of modern Japanese tableware for export to Europe and USA.

Regards,
Martin.

Gotheborg.com has this as the "Kozan Kiln", plus the mark is shown in proper reading position. See Link.
