Subject:Need Help with Chinese Cong
Posted By: Gary Tue, May 15, 2018 IP: 98.182.46.61

I am looking for help determining if these are jade and old or reproductions. I have been unable to find any, with similar carvings, on the Internet. They are not uniform in size and are hand carved. About 4" in length. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A modern carving with Taoties 饕餮 at its four edges, made with material that is not jade since white carving lines could be seen, to imitate Liangzhu culture congs or archaic congs. May not be a bad study piece though.

This looks like a modern carving made for the tourist market. It definitely does not look like Jade.
