Subject:Age of Coromandel screen?
Posted By: Robb Knight Sat, May 19, 2018 IP: 2601:2c3:4300:235f:e

Hello

I'm new to collecting Asian art. I recently purchased a Coromandel screen and I'm curious as to when it was made. As you can see from the photos, the screen is made up of four panels each of which which are divided into four sections. (Panel size approx. 79" x 18") Each section contains a raised panel that is covered in low relief carvings that have been completely painted in great detail. The designs on the back are incised and painted into the lacquer. Thanks in advance for any info.

Robb
