Subject:Request Help Identifying Japanese Imari Bowl
Posted By: RFM Sun, May 20, 2018 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:9

Hi All,
Request your help on translating the signature on the base and any thoughts you might have on the piece. I believe it is old and above average in quality but I'm not sure.
The bowl is rather large, 9 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall. Thank you in advance!

Looks like a Meiji period bowl with the characters 太明年製 meaning “greatest Ming period made” copying the Chinese mark 大明年製 meaning “great Ming period made.”

Looks like a fuki Choshun mark, but the characters don't look right. I would estimate perhaps early Meiji period here.
