Subject:Help identifying Japanese woodblock
Posted By: Eric Fri, Jun 01, 2018 IP: 2601:192:8600:2f80:7

Hey guys. Trying to identify this woodblock print. It's in the style of Suzuki harunobu but the signature isn't his.
It's the Half Koban post card size.
I do believe it's Edo Period though.

Can anyone help me read the signature?

Thanks for any help!

I was hoping I. Nagy would translate the signature. It does appear that the artist was familiar with the Suzuki Harunobu print "The Heron Maiden" here at the Boston MFA:

Your print certainly wasn't printed in the Edo period. Only vegetable dyes were available then and that red wasn't available until the Meiji restoration.

Cheers,
Stan
