Subject:Guangxu Mark Vase
Posted By: william Mon, Jun 04, 2018 IP: 66.130.137.168

Hi,
I bought this vase today from a small local antique shop. I did not expect the vase to be from the guangxu period but, I've spent some time looking at similar period examples on the internet and I saw some resemblance. The mark looks off but other than that I think it could be of the period. I'd be very grateful if someone could share his opinion about this piece. Thanks

The glaze looks unusually fault-free for the Guangxu period. Probably 20th century, and possibly post-Republic. Decoration seems to lack texture that comes with brush strokes, hinting at transfer use.

Best regards,

Bill H.

My opinion is that this is a modern reproduction. Does not look like a period piece.
