Hello Everyone, I acquired a beautiful Teapot, it has had the handle replaced. I thought it was kangxi or Kangxi export. But I came across Limehouse , Limehouse I have heard had smiley faces or sun faces into the design. My Teapot has this. So can anyone let me know what they think. Is it Kangxi Export Decorated at Limehouse or another English porcelain company such as bow for example. I am suspected it could very well be Limehouse. Looks like a blue and white Kangxi era export tea pot that was over-decorated or "clobbered" with additional enamels, in this case, iron red and gold to create the Imari colour palette that was popular in the first half of the 18th century.

The addition of enamels to the wares would generate extra profits from their sale or it was done to hide some imperfection in the porcelain piece.

Metropolitan centres like London, England, where the returning ships docked, and in Rotterdam, Delft, and Amsterdam, Holland, were places where the practice of "clobbering" occurred.
