Hi,
Can anyone please help me identify the artist on this Chinese watercolor painting on silk?
Thanks much!

Yang Tie-something 楊鐡X, the seal is indistinct. Signed as 閩江居士. Dated spring 1928? Seems more oddly contemporary than that to me in a few places though, which would make the date 1988. Some nice precise brushwork. I am surprised nothing else by this guy pops up when searching on his art name and partial real name

Hi rat,

Do you think the second character could be Yan 厌 (simplified form of 厭)? While it might not sound a very complimentary, if the generational name comes from a poem housed in the family temple, then the precise meaning might sound jarring, as the meaning is not the important part - the specifying of the generation is. I've seen a couple of odd names through this system.

hm, you often read these things better than I can, but in this instance it seems to me that the third character has a grass radical across the top, then bottom right almost looking like 央, bottom left more like a 岡. however no such character exists, so I know I'm still off.

I am ignoring the 氏; in full I am seeing 楊氏鐡-something, where the something resembles a 眏 with a 草字頭
