Subject:Bronze vase? inscription and signature
Posted By: Larry Fri, Mar 29, 2019 IP: 172.83.40.23

Hello, I have this 12" tall brass or bronze vase - I'm not sure if it is a Chinese or Japanese piece. It's carved with a cherry blossom device and has an inscription on one panel and what I believe to be a signature at the bottom of one of the other panels.

Any help translating and identifying appreciated!

Thanks

Inscriptions in my rough translation,

有梅花處惜無酒
三嗅清香當一杯
The plum blossoms, however, I regret that there is no wine
I take its fragrance three times as a drink

(Citation from the poem of Dai Fugu (Tai Fu-ku) - 1167-, poet of the Southern Song dynasty - titled "Seeing Plum in the Mountains")

Signature,
守重 - Morishige

The artist`s name proves that the work is Japanese.

With regards,
I.Nagy
