Subject:Japanese painting (I think) - help with the calligraphy please
Posted By: Beege Thu, Apr 18, 2019 IP: 2a02:c7d:2a2d:7500:5

Hallo all.
This is a nice little painting which I think is watercolour.
Can somebody please translate the calligraphy and stamp to help identify age and artist?
Many thanks
Jack

It is undoubtedly Japanese,
永廣 - Eikō or Nagahiro, Ehiro
For the time being I have not found an artist of such a name. As I have often mentioned before, the Japanese art history between the two world wars is not yet fully processed.

with regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you I.Nagy, that is most helpful.
Your reference to artists between the wars: does this mean your translation (Eikō or Nagahiro, Ehiro) identifies a possible date for the painting?
Regards
Jack

Dear Jack,
I can't say anything sure about its age.It could be even younger. You can judge somewhat from the condition of the paper. From the screen it is mission impossible.
With regards,
I.Nagy
