Subject:About three ukiyo-e with a male figure
Posted By: Luciano Mon, May 20, 2019 IP: 193.204.90.105

Hello,
I am writing you hoping to know something about the three ukiyo-e with a male figure you can see in the attached pictures: as you see, there is always the same mark in any image and I hope you may help me to know who is this painter but also, what is the meaning of the scene with the man looking at a strange object high at his right? Is he playing?
Sorry for my question amd thank you for your kind attention: I hope in your expert help. Best regards,
Luciano

It's not Ukiyo-e but Tosa school - probably the depiction of a chapter from an old tale ('monogatari' in Japanese). A close-up of the seals is needed.

Guy.

IMO, the combined seal reads 景文 (Keibun or Kagefumi) but I don't see a direct relation to the Shijô painter Matsumura Keibun.
