Subject:Help Identifying Subject of Sculpture

Posted By: Bill H Wed, May 22, 2019 I believe this may be a Khmer-style bust of the Sakyamuni Buddha. I have vague memories of seeing similar items in Mekong River marketplaces I visited during the Vietnam War years. It could be that they were being made in Thailand, which has a Khmer thread or two in its own history. Several types of similarly mounted Buddha busts in Thai and Lao styles were popular souvenirs among Military personnel assigned to and transiting Thailand during that period.
