The hand-painted decoration and apocryphal base-mark of "Made during the Qianlong Reign" suggest your vase could have been made between the 1940s and early 1960s.

Best regards,

It would be a reproduction only in the sense that it is a theme from Chinese classical literature that was mass-produced on painted porcelain over the years, including circa the mid-20th century, when this one was made. You can sometimes price-check vases like it on eBay and liveauctioneers.com. I don't collect this period, so lack a ready grasp of auction results or other sale prices.

Best regards,

Bill H.

I agree with bill's post.
These types of wares 25yrs ago were worth next to nothing. However in more recent times they have found a place in the market.
I believe your vase probably dates from the 1960's.
Interesting that cobalt blue was not found much on porcelain during the occupation period of about 1936-45 due to the Japanese invasion etc.
Is their any calligraphy on the other side?

Hi Richard,
Thank you for posting further pictures of your vase.
As I do not read/speak the language I am unable to translate the calligraphy etc.
I did find a similar seal/chop mark to yours dated to the late 1940,'s however no further information was available.
Perhaps other members may be able to help?
I would submit that the added calligraphy and iron red marks would IMO further enhance the value of your item.
I am in the same boat as Bill when it comes to collecting/valuing mid to later 20th century items.
Netherless, your vase is very attractive, well painted for the period with excellent calligraphy and marks.
