Carmona is a city in Spain, east of Seville. The vertical stack beneath reads down as Chinese for the number 1688/一六八八, which doesn't appear to correlate with anything historical to do with Carmona, Spain. The Roman letters and the Chinese both may have been written by a non-Chinese. The base of the dish does not resemble anything on Chinese antique dishes I've ever seen.

Good luck,

Bill H.
