Subject:CARVED BI DISK
Posted By: Patty Neeley Mon, Aug 12, 2019 IP: 38.133.104.215

Hi,
I acquired this lovely piece several years ago in a box of items from a yard sale. It looked like a Bi Disk, but I had never seen one carved like that let alone in a variegated stone I couldn't identify.I decided it was just a "wanna bi" LOL!!
put it away and forgot about it. I recently dug it up while cleaning and again found it curious. May I please have some information on it. Measures 2" in diameter and 4mm thick. The stone looks so much like agate with areas of translucency, but it is not that hard. Using Moh's hardness scale tests, it is 5 in hardness as glass is the first item to scratch it and leave a mark. The residue is white, and the stone appears to somewhat brittle. So not jade and not soapstone. Looking forward to your thoughts! PS: the outside photos are the best representation of the color.

Going strictly by the supplied photos, this is a carving where electric tools have been used, therefore it is not old. It also looks like dye stuff has been used to make it look old.
