Subject:Mark on Porcelain Bowl
Posted By: Mary Arnold Sat, Sep 21, 2019 IP: 68.7.243.14

This mark is on a lovely 12" porcelain bowl. I think it is contemporary, but if anyone can tell me more, I would appreciate it. And is this right side up?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for taking a look.

The mark reads down and across from the right as "Fang Da Qing Kang Xi Nian", meaning the bowl is an "Imitation of the Great Qing Dynasty Kangxi Reign".

What's not right-side-up is a picture or two of the bowl itself. In that regard some of us, myself included, sit here bristling at the thought of others, yourself seemingly included, who take us to be a free translation service.

Not true, ma'am! We're here to learn something, just like you, and to be better equipped, along with you, to be able to spot the difference next time one of these bowls pops up.

We'd appreciate it greatly if you and all the remissive others out there, would help us achieve the principal goals of the forum by posting a full description, photos included, of the item presented for discussion

And yes, I'm ashamed to say, this is an attempt to shame all who may be guilty out there.

Bill, I apologize. If I post again, I will certainly post photos of the item. I appreciate the information. Mary

Well said Bill. Please ask if your statement might be added - in bold type - to the introductory part of this page.

I now refuse to offer any opinion on an item which has no full photographs, and hopefully some details.

Regards

Mikeoz
