Subject:japanese or chinese bronze pot
Posted By: Reno Sun, Sep 29, 2019 IP: 81.158.116.61

Hi all,

can someone advise please on this bronze pot. I am assuming sould be japanese or chinese or asian origin.

Pot is very nice detailed. There is a mark on a bottom as well.

It's quite large 40cm and 7kg.

Is here any age with this bronze? If yes, when possibly it was made?

Thank you so much!

Kind regards
Reno

Your incense burner is most certainly Chinese, and carries a mark typical of Chinese bronzes for probably the last five hundred years. That mark is of the XuanDe emperor of the Ming dynasty, 大明宣德年製 but is almost always apocryphal.

The detailed patterning is based on designs much older, by perhaps a thousand or more years.
