It is a Chinese hardwood shell inlaid table.
The inscription reads,
吾前東粗足
作佳觀為逸
民之懐久
I went East where I saw beautiful views
I think I have a longing ambition for being a hermit.
(These sentences are from a known calligraphic sammple book wriiten by the famous IV.c calligrapher Wang Xizhi)

With regards,
I.Nagy

The maker's mark reads,
生財 - Shengcai - Probably an abbreviation of the manufacturer company or shop.
