Subject:Old Japanese Hinamatsuri set
Posted By: Elora Wed, Jan 08, 2020 IP: 2a01:cb05:8362:5000:

Hi,

I've had this old Japanese hinamatsuri set for a while.

It's in lacquer.

I believe the miniatures are of some incense burners and a Japanese bride's wedding furniture. Although any other insight would be welcome.

I was wondering if anyone could perhaps clue me in on what's written on the old transport boxes?

Thanks for your time,

Regards,

Inscription on big box,
檜 御三揃 - Hinoki Go-Mitsuzoroi - Cypress wood made Three-piece set
The three-piece set consist of
1, Chest (Tansu)
Long chest (Nagamochi)
Smaller clothing storage box (Hasamibako)
2, Brazier (Hibachi) -Inscription on the smaller box - traditional heating device
3, Mobile shelves (Daisu) used for formal tea ceremony
Practically you do have all the three pieces of the set.

With regards,
I.Nagy
