Subject:Takaji Kuroda art question
Posted By: yurike Fri, Jan 24, 2020 IP: 71.121.170.65

I have never seen any auction results or value prices for his work. I have 1 piece which I am curious of the value. I have heard he only kept 1 out of 10 that he created. Anyone familiar with his works or values thereof? Thank you for any assistance.

He was born in 1931. Kuroda was an engineer of the Nec-corporation from 1954, until in 2000 he retired after 46 years in which he became a general manager of development of spatial systems, vice-president and engineers' chief of the corporation. He loved chrysanthemums cultivation; music, poetry and… Suminagashi. In 1984 he initiated his experiments with this technique that he based on his studies on the space and by using certain chemicals went so far as to produce new models, which would not be achieved without them. His works gave birth to Suimonga, the denomination applied to the new models of Suminagashi achieved by Kuroda, which was recognised by the department of the Japanese Association of traditional Crafts in 2001.
