Subject:Help ID mark on Vase
Posted By: John DeGiacomo Mon, Mar 23, 2020 IP: 47.18.40.74

Bought this at a tag sale. Jut curious as to what the mark says. Better quality than most of the Asian vases I have handled.

Thanks in advance.

In Chinese kaishu standard characters, the apocryphal six-character zhuanshu seal-script base-mark on your vase reads 'Da Qing Qianlong nian zhi' (大清乾隆年製), 'Made during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty'.

Your vase could have been made during the third quarter of the 20th century in Hong Kong or Macao, insofar as transfer-decorated porcelain bearing similar marks was being made by factories in both places at that time.

Best regards,

Bill H.
