I found a Gary Haines who was on a sub in Japan years ago. Not sure if this was made for him but any help of inscription would be appreciated.

香梅
一片梅香一意上墻喜鵲報
春來無意争春晴浮香
一九九九・冬
Fragrant plums
Some blooming plums give their fragrance
with devotion and the magpies on the wall herald the spring
The spring has no intention to argue about fragrance on a sunny fragrant day
