Subject:White Guanyin figure , unknown age

I bought this figure secondhand a couple of years ago and would like to know whether it has any age or is relatively new.

The image is slip-cast, so can't be older than that process, the use of which dates to the early 20th century in China. It's my experience that the older, more valuable Dehua-made Guanyin images usually have elaborate hand-carved and detailed pedestals, draping of the robes, and hair arrangements having a small plaque showing host Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara at the front of the coif. The simpler slip-casting here looks to me to be another mass-produced image of the goddess from Mainland China or Taiwan, which have been major sources in recent years.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you very much Bill, spot on. After posting the message I found this identical pair of lamps , on ebay, which look by the lamp fittings to be mid to late 20th century.
Best
Mike

Thank you Ernest. I can see the difference , the carved figure is sharp and clear , the cast figure much softer .
