Subject:Japanese scroll - ID of artist
Posted By: John Lord Sat, Sep 19, 2020 IP: 110.140.141.192

I would be grateful for any help identifying the artist and subject and date of this scroll. Picture is ink and colour on paper and measures 117 x 42.5cm.
It was purchased in Japan in the 1960s / 70s.

In my reading and rough translation,

閑陋白雲遊 静萬白雲語
只奥山出來 白雲觀無主
Small idle white clouds are playing and
tens of thousands of white clouds are talking quietly
They just came out from the depths of the mountains
and he is staring rapt at the white clouds

Signature,
雲嶺逸人 - Unrei-itsujin - Hermit of Mt. Unrei
Upper seal,
茂利保印 - Seal of Mori Tamotsu
Lower seal,
雲嶺 - Unrei

Mow, we are behind the eight ball - a totally unknown artist.

With regards,
I.Nagy

To I. Nagy,

Thank you for all that information. I am presently running searches on both seal name and signature, but to no avail as yet.

Many thanks,
John Lord

Dear John,
Please let me known your findings, if at all.
