Subject:Teapot by Takeuchi Chubei?
Posted By: manuD Tue, Sep 22, 2020 IP: 2a01:e34:edc9:7c50:1

I would like to have the experts' opinion about this teapot, and if possible its value. I was told that it is by Takeuchi Chubei (1852-1922). I read somewhere on this forum that he started his kiln in 1883, so I am a bit confused about the date of 1880 on the hand-written label.

It looks like Takeuchi Chubei, but as long as you don't remove the the glued vignette from the bottom marking we cannot be sure about.
In stationary shops special liquid is sold which dissolve the glue and you can remove the vignette without damaging it. However, I don't know whether in your country the stationary shops sell such liquid.

With regards
I.Nagy
