Subject:Help with mysterious blue mark on porcelain
Posted By: Rachael Tue, Sep 22, 2020 IP: 2601:6c4:380:68a0:ed

Please help to figure out this very unusual blue mark on old Chinese porcelain. I couldn't find any marks like that.
Any other info about it would be great too.
Thank you!

Your plate has a rather amateurish attempt to represent an armorial from an earlier age. The crest almost appears to be a smiling moose.I,too, tried to find the mark in Goteburgs large review, but was not successful. However from the brushwork and style, it appears quite modern. Maybe someone like Bill can help identify the maker.

Not that I haven't been trying, but I've been unable as yet to wrap my brain around that marking. But agree, this looks to be a decorative piece, likely including the heraldry. The porcelain glaze looks almost like French, whence comes a lot of chinoiserie.

The mark reads,
惕予 - Tiyu - Given name
(Probably the name of painter)

With regards,
