Subject:Vintage Oil Painting. Looks like a Takeshi Hayashi but cannot read signature...
Posted By: Sun, Sep 27, 2009 IP: 67.220.8.86

Hello - I have a vintage oil painting. It is signed on front but I cannot tell what the character means - or even what language. It looks maybe even Korean? In style, it reminds me of some of the Japanese Takeshi Hayashi paintings I've seen, but what does the signature say?

It is named on back in English "Mountain & a Gate"

Thank you in advance for your input.

my guess is Korean also. the roof seems quite similar to the major preserved gates in Seoul, for example, and the signature seems a cursive version of hangul, but i'm sorry I don't know what exactly.

Thanks for the info! Maybe I should repost under SE Asia section of the forum?
