Nice and very small vase cloisonn� vase 3.5 inches. Marked at the bottom . So would like to know age and Japanese or Chinese made ?

Looks Japanese - the mark a stylized Mt. Fuji?

But with the bubbles, rather a hasty production and probably pretty new for sale in museum shops where loan exhibitions have occured in last 10 years or so.

Thank you but this little vase is older and at least from the fifties traceable where's its been .

Would not argue about whether 1950s.

20th century factory products often hard to date and some would say there is no point trying.

It probably took several years after the 1922 opening of Tut's tomb for the fashion to spread, so late 1920s would be one option.

Another option is that sometime before 1922 the Japanese took a notion to make Egyptian-themed items, for some mysterious reason.

As to the 1950s, that seems doubtful, as Egyptomania was decades out of fashion then and everyone was trying to be Modern.

If you do a Google Images search for "Japanese Cloisonne Egyptian" you'll discover many other examples. I have a bracelet in this style, but where I've hidden the pictures escapes me.
