Found this great little snuff bottle with what looks like a seal on the bottom. The seal looks like brass with porcelain inlay but not sure of the bottle material. Would appreciate a translation and any info. Thanks

it looks to be the mark of Emperor Qianlong (1735-1796 A.D.)
Qian2 Long2 Nian2 Zhi4
its not saying Qing dynasty, but reffers to Qianlong regime.
i have in my collection few snuff bottle that are marked with Qianlong regime.
i have checked them with experts and they are authentic antiques, and their price is very high.

From the Photo, it looks like your snuff bottle is carved from Ivory, but i cant be sure only by looking from the photo.
well if it is a real antique snuff bottle, you are very lucky...

The seal on your mid-20th century molded composite-on-brass snuff bottle says 'Qianlong Nian Zhi' (Made during the Qianlong Reign). This type resembles ivory. They also were made in a red 'cinnabar' color.

it's supposed to be a Qianlong era seal "qianlong nianzhi" but this snuff bottle seems much more recently made than that.

I believe its from the Great Qing Dynasty.I recently recieved a jar that had same markings but a square seal.Good luck!

First, it is not a seal. A seal must be mirror-reversed in order to create a positive image. This quite clearly reads from right to left.

This is a reign mark, QianLong Nian Zhi - made in the reign of QianLong emperor. But it wasn't. I think it is a relatively modern item, probably made for the tourist market.

I have the exact same item but in red. The carving is identical. I came across this page when I was looking for a translation of the marking.

So it seems that these things were mass produced. Interesting.

Yes. They are cast/molded from resin. That is why they are the same.
