Subject:CHARACTERS & CHOP MARKS
Posted By: Fri, Jun 01, 2012 IP: 86.145.103.85

Can someone please help out with the translations and chop marks on a piece of original artwork which I believe was a 'visual' for a decorative plate design. Once again its probably circa 1880s?

The visual was finely illustrated on tissue paper and is of a fish (koi)? The image is 320mm in dia. which is probably full size, I assume it went into production?

Please note, the glare on the scan is from the archival protector which is protecting the tissue paper from any further damage

Has anyone seen this design before?

this is another proof by the same Mr. Fukuda whose seal appears on your earlier proof, reading that it is a design sheet Part I, sheet #11 for a (woodblock print of a) river carp, and was transmitted to the customer/printer on the 28th of the seventh month (not necessarily July if going by the lunar calendar, perhaps August or September).
