Subject:Please help identify

I am trying to learn how to identify Chinese pottery etc but I need help with this one.
As near as I can tell, the mark on the bottom is Qing dynasty Shunzhi 1644-61. I do realise that it is proberbly a recently made vase (25 years or so) but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is and what gives you the clues? And should it be a pair?

The vase is also very dirty in the pictures as it has been in storage for quite a while. Should I use soapy water to clean it?

This naively decorated contemporary vase has been blessed with a mark of the Qing Tongzhi Reign (1862-74). Probably was made somewhere beyond the borders of Mainland China, unless quality control there is on holiday.

Best regards,

Bill H.

he mark reads "Da Qing Tongzhi nianzhi", in other words it's trying to be a Tongzhi period mark (1861-1875) rather than Shunzhi. as you noted however it is a recent attempt to mimic 19th century style. yes you can definitely wash the vase with soapy water.
