The photos seem to vary in brilliance between the listing and the supplemental images, which leaves open the question of what tones prevailed in the original enamels. According to what I've read and seen, most period pieces that merited the Presidential Palace (Jurentang) mark were usually remarkable for their excellence, leaving me impressed that this bird & flower vase is fairly mundane in its subject matter and palette of what may be somewhat flat enamels. Its mark is in the ballpark with some others I've seen, though not as well formed as expected for something made for Yuan Shikai. Here is an image of a Jardiniere which probably was made within a few years of Yuan Shikai's demise and has a nicely-written mark, as well as a type of decoration befitting someone aspiring to be Emperor.
Best regards,
Bill H.
