Posted By: Tue, Sep 11, 2012 IP: 98.71.214.8 These are better than average Japanese Imari-palette export vases dating from the late Meiji period, or circa 1900. The shoulders at either side have attractive applications molded in the form of rope, which is tied into a loose bow at the top and droops in two strands with tasseled ends. The bases have numerical factory markings, apparently quality-control numbers, but I'm uncertain of what they pertain to. |
