Hi,
Hoping someone can help me with these marks. Thanks!

The larger red/gilded seal reads 'Kinzan zô' (made by Kinzan).

I'm not sure about the reading of the second mark.

Thanks very much. Maybe someone else out there knows the red mark.

I believe the kanji in the larger square reserve would read down from the top right in two stacks as: "Kinkozan Zo" (Made by Kinkozan), which is a well known Kyoto studio of the late Meiji period (1868-1912).

My favorite Japanese online dictionary comes up with two transcription choices for the two characters in the other reserve: Masayasu or Seiko, both indicated to be given names. This possibly could be the name of the artist who painted the piece, though I defer to collectors for confirmation of the name and my speculation. I did find some Google citations indicating that the name Masayasu was of historical significance in the Satsuma area.

Best regards,

Bill H.

THE SMALLER MARK IS THAT OF THE ARTIST Masayasu who was an artist for the Kinkozan studio
