Posted By: Bill H Thu, Mar 06, 2014 The marks on both bottles, shown upside down, read from the right in seal script as "Made during the Qianlong Reign" (Qianlong Nian Zhi). The bottles are molded in a composite material over brass to resemble ivory at the top and cinnabar lacquer on the other. Age is circa mid or later 20th century in my opinion. |

Posted By: Stan Thu, Mar 06, 2014 When you turn your marks upside down, your snuff bottles are marked for the Qianlong (1736-95) reign. However, both are modern items made from composite materials. |

Posted By: Stan Thu, Mar 06, 2014 Adding to my remarks above, these are quite common. You'll note the red snuff bottle (mistake) in our collection looks nearly identical to yours - a definite indication that they are mass-produced. |
