Thank you for your reply! I have done a ton of research trying to just find out who it is by. I did have it looked at by an auction house already so they did give me a value but they didn't say anything about who it might be by. The people I bought it from were Taiwanese and said they thought the signature was something like "Huang Zhu" but they said it was hard to translate the last name into English. I looked up all of the signatures of known calligraphers who had names that sounded similar to that but, none of the seals matched. I really wanted to try to figure out who had done this. I do buy and sell Chinese and Japanese antiques but, not only to make money- I am fascinated by Chinese history and the culture and all of the ancient arts. I started out just dealing in antiques in general but kept being drawn to mostly Chinese antiques and now that is pretty much all I see when I go out. I find Chinese art to be extremely beautiful-even the writing is art! I love the paintings, the carved jades and woods and ivories-I so much enjoy looking at them and holding them and wondering about them..I don't know what it is-maybe the thousands of years of history echoed in each piece-I really truly want to know as much as I can about each item that passes through my hands-I see them all as lessons-I learn so much from every object I find-I do as much research as I can possibly do on my own-researching and learning are my favorite parts of the whole process. And, I don't want anyone to go out of their way to help me-I just know that a lot of people who are as passionate as I am about these things -they enjoy sharing and this might be a fun mystery for them too! ;) Thank you for your time and expertise!
