Subject:Postcards from Asia
Posted By: Jimmy Thu, Mar 27, 2014 IP: 173.218.40.70

It would be great to know where these postcards were made. I've had them for years, but don't believe that they are extremely old.
I've always liked them. They seem to be woodblocks, of some sort.
Thanks for your help!
Regards, Jimmy

Probably Japanese I think. The printed side of the one just above, shown on its side, reads across from the left when flipped as "Shisendo Hanga" (詩仙堂版画 - woodblock print of the Hall of Great Poets).

Shisendo is the Kyoto retirement villa of the 17th century Confucian scholar Jozen Ishikawa, built in 1641 and now a popular stop for tourists. See link for further details.

Best regards,

Bill H.
