Subject:identification of type and age of robe
Posted By: Joy Evans Mon, Mar 31, 2014 IP: 70.192.198.7

Hello- I have acquired a beautiful oriental robe. Could you please help me identify its age, type and worth? ORNATE EMBROIDERY on SILK - mostly floral and abstract oriental designs with 2 dragons on the front bottom panels
VIVID ROYAL BLUE with Medium Blue bands on sleeves and Gold, Orange Red accent threads
Black & Gold trim on the sleeves and neck
Fully Lined
3 oriental rope button closures
Measurements:
Shoulder to shoulder across the back approx. 20 (the sleeves have no shoulder seam)
Neck 15
Nape to hem 38
Sleeve length approx. 17
Width 21(from underarm to underarm)
Condition: The silk is in excellent condition
Overall the robe is in good to very good condition. The embroidery is in very good condition and appears to be completely intact except for a thread here and there - very, very minimal. It is quite detailed and intricate done in gold metallic thread. The issues are as follows. There are two stains on one sleeve on the royal blue area as pictured, another on the medium blue bottom of the other sleeve. The stains are greenish brown in color and not overwhelming. There are a couple of very minor holes on the lining inside the neck area. The remainder of the lining (a gold beige color) is in very good condition. There is some wear and fraying on the exterior neck piece and a small tear in the black silk ribbon band at the bottom of the collar and one small tear on the top black silk ribbon band.
