Subject:identify dieties indian bronze
Posted By: aleah Tue, Apr 01, 2014 IP: 97.113.17.2

someone told me this was shiva & uma. if that's the case, it would seem shiva is on uma's lap. the main figure appears female. any help appreciated.

this is being described as shiva and uma, but s I said, shiva (the main figure) has unmistakeable breasts. the smaller seated figure would be uma, and is male looking, and appears to be grasping the main figure's left breast. are there depictions of uma as the primary and shiva as secondary? I'm no expert, but I've never seen it this way. wondering if tis isn't shashthi or hariti. it's also described as 14th century. I'd appreciate it if anyone with expertise would comment, and thank you, of course for those insights already provided.
