Hi Wil,
I tried to send you an email, but it came back.
Do you have any link or contact where I can find out more about the piece? Maybe pictures? How did you come to the conclusion it is a Chinese axe?
Somebody told me it could be Cambodian.
Thank you for your help
Michael

I have seen similar shapes to this in early Khmer (Cambodian) collections. Won't guarantee it as this is not my specialty, but a place to start researching.

I surfed on the net and have two photos for you.
The first is a socketed ceremonial axe Schang dynasty 14 th cent-11 century-bc havard museum .
The second one tang dynasty bronze sold for 8750 dollar estimate 10.000 - 15.000 dollar at Christies.
And whether it is Chinese or Khmer I donĀ“t know, I know just a little of bronzes.
Regards Will
