Subject:New Libation Cup
Posted By: Anthony Mon, Apr 21, 2014 IP: 173.57.93.241

Hi Everyone. I have been a serious collector of Asian art for more than 15 years now and have been fortunate in being able to hunt and track down various pieces for my collection all over the world. I made it a goal to find a Dehua libation cup and last year was fortunate to finally find a legitimate specimen. I am torn on the date and have been told by some that it is late Ming and by others that it is early Qing. Yet, others merely state it is 17th/18th century which of course basically says the same as Ming/Transition/Qing. I am aware of the difficulty in dating Dehua porcelain but thought that perhaps some of the experts here may be able to shed more light on this piece? Thank you for your time and your help.
Sincerely, Anthony

Check out Skinner's auction for a number of libation cups.

Hi Anthony,

Not realy my erea but what I see is:
The decoration looks (to) sharp and detailed...
The bottom seems unglazed which is unusual I think.

Regards,

Arjan
