Subject:Asian Vase ID?
Posted By: Donna Sun, Jun 15, 2014 IP: 71.200.47.126

My mother in law has three vases. Two are a mirrored set. Each has a symbol on the bottom. I know nothing about these and just trying to find the history or lack there of behind it. Appreciate any help.

Hello Donna

The two identical vases are Chinese and date from around 1900 to 1940 and show typical brown/copper necks and bases with a similarly colored mark. The warrior scenes are also typical. Alas many were produced and are unpopular, so unfortunately they are not that valuable. The other vase is quasi Japanese Satsuma and this style was also widely produced with typical gaudy coloring and thus again unfortunately not popular.

Cheers from Oz

Jim
