Subject:Help with reading Charcters
Posted By: Vickie Purves Tue, Jun 17, 2014 IP: 80.229.26.160

Hello, I have mystery item! I thought it might be a Japanese brush pot? But not sure.
Can anyone help read the mark on the base and help guestimate what it is,
Best Wishes

given the buddhist iconography on the side I will guess this isn't a dice bowl after all...the base says nihon tokyo ogawa seizo, made in Japan by Ogawa of Tokyo

Hello, Thank you for your help with the translation. I had no idea that those symbols were Buddhist. I haven't been able to find out anything about the Ogawa of Tokyo makers. I think I will need to contact some Japanese antiques experts!
Thank you for taking the time to reply,
Best Wishes

Hello Rat, is there any chance you can help with the translation of the mark on the base of my Brass Koro posting?
Best Wishes
Vickie
