No one seems to know what this says. It is off of a teapot, made of very thin porcelain. Thanks

It looks like 名 MING 陶 TAO in Chinese, which would mean reputable earthenware or famous pottery.

Your coffee pot looks Japanese. If people find the mark difficult to read it is because Seal script is often quite different from the modern written form. The mark reads 名陶, which means 'famous kiln' or 'famous pottery'. In Japanese this would possibly be pronounced MyoTo or MeiTo.

Thank you so much. I really do appreciate it. It has been bugging for the past 6 years, on what it could say.

Can you give me your best guess on the age of this item? I have had it for about 8 years. Thank you.

Believe this is Japanese "Meito" Company ware.

Best regards,
