Subject:Chinese gold and Cabochon jade ring
Posted By: GerryG Sat, Jul 05, 2014 IP: 89.126.102.203 I would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me with a translation of the following marks found on an inherited gold and jade ring. I've done my best to get clear photos of the marks so hopefully someone out there with more knowledge than I can provide the necessary information. I am unsure of the gold's purity though I'm reasonably certain the jade is genuine and probably burmese imperial jade. Maybe Ernest will oblige me with his opinion. |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Mon, Jul 07, 2014 I see apple green... A little darker, and more translucent, then we look at Imperial... If it is an older ring, then most likely the gold is app. 22K-24K. Any good jeweler will be able to tell. |

Posted By: GerryG Tue, Jul 08, 2014 Hi Ernst, You are correct. I posted the ring in haste without doing enough research and I realised afterward that it is apple green jade not imperial. It would be interesting if anyone can give a translation for the marks. That might give us a better indication to age. |
