Subject:Chinese Nephrite Spinning Pendant?
Posted By: keegan Mon, Jul 14, 2014 IP: 98.219.58.124 Curious as to what this piece is. My cousin seems to think it's a worry stone, while I think it's a pendant of some sort. |

Posted By: LEE Wed, Jul 16, 2014 this one is not new it is probably 1900s from the cut and style. best way to tell is to take a very clear photo of the piece area so that we can study the cut marks. Usually they are bored with a drill and than cut with a string . so you get one round drill cut with fine tool marks perpendicular with the cut. A string is passed through this hole and than it is tied to a bow and than with sandy grit it is used as a saw to create the rest of the cut, typically the tool marks run in the same direction as the cut for string cut. This jade can either nepherite or jadeite and rarely white opaque quartz or agate. |
